The TRPL was designed to last, but also to reflect Theodore Roosevelt's conservation legacy. In this panel discussion, the Library’s architects and builders discuss the sustainability commitments involved, and the local materials, important partnerships, challenges and innovative solutions that came up along the way. Jenn Carroll, the Manager of Sustainability at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, speaks with Craig Dykers, Founding Partner, Snøhetta architecture; Suzanne Medley, The Fisher Group; and Willie Winn, Winn Construction. These ambitious and forward-thinking experts reveal the sustainability choices that showed up during construction, and the difficult work that allowed them to meet the certification standards of the Living Building Challenge. Together, they tell a story about creating someplace extraordinary, and about building it with the land, not just on it. About constructing a site for generations of visitors, but also for the animals, grasses, and even the weather systems that already exist in the Badlands. And the details are as wild as the landscape! This episode is part of a special 6-part series, recorded live from the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library during its Founding Benefactors Days, July 2-3, 2026, just ahead of the grand opening. Interviews, talks, and panel discussions explored the topics of leadership, conservation, civic life, and Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy today.
